Our world is a better place when we make it about others, not about ourselves
As many of us in this world are celebrating their faith during this holy period, I wanted to write something from the heart and the soul. Something from my new book “Our Lives, Our Choices. How I embraced second chances at life to turn depression and dark moments into high hopes and delightful dreams” (Coming fall 2020).If this resonates with you, please share the blog https://www.rachadiassociates.net/blog. I write to inspire others because many inspired me The world is a better place when we care for each other. We don’t have to wait for a tragedy or a health crisis to help each other, to support each other, to love each other and to truly think of each other. I am so proud of so many of us in this world who never hesitate a second to show up and help. This is about them. Not about me. Not about us. I write to inspire others because many inspired me As we celebrate alone, as we miss those precious moments from yesterday when we could hug each other, pray with each other, share a meal with each other, laugh and cry with each other. As we celebrate, let us take a moment to remember those precious moments and learn to never take them for granted again. We don’t have to wait until we lose loved ones to remember them, to live with regrets and ask for their forgiveness. It is not too late to reach out and digitally touch someone today. To ask for their love and their forgiveness no matter the circumstances. Be courageous so they can be too. Remembering them and remembering those moments where I could have been just a little bit nicer to my dad, my mom, my brothers and sisters, my wife, my daughters, my neighbors, my relatives. Yes, we do a lot of good things for ourselves and for others. The moments we are not who we are or meant to be, that’s when our choice of actions, words, gestures are not the right choices. The decisions we make to insult, to judge, to scream, to hit, to shove, to push are not the right decisions. We feel the consequences and we regret them as true human beings and we ask for forgiveness. Our true values are about love, respect, compassion and much more. Others!! Just continue to harass and hurt their own without remorse without even thinking if the others are equal human beings. They mock others consistently and rejoice because they just scored points!! For what? For making another human being embarrassed and belittled!! Shame on them. Shame on us for allowing such behavior to even enter our body, our heart, our soul. It is a choice we are making to allow such behavior. At the end, we all pay for it!! Please forgive me for bringing judgment. I am the last one to judge anyone because I am not perfect. No one is perfect except you know who. I just pray that they find their way to love and respect others just like they would like to be loved and respected. So let’s wake up while it’s not too late to unite and forgive one another. Let’s restore the true human spirit of fraternity and humanity. Let’s be kind and peaceful to us and to all human kind around us. Yes it is a choice. Yes it is true leadership when you inspire others to be the best they can be to the world and to each other. That is my kind of leadership. Modest, courageous, understanding, compassionate, strong, resolute and more. Think about this, teachers, leaders, parents and educators. Let’s go back to teaching the “human sciences” along the life sciences. Don’t make it about me, about us!! It is about the others. Do it for them: Your mother, your father, your brother, your sister, your spouse, your daughters, your sons, your grandparents and grandchildren and their young friends and many other souls around us. Make it about your neighbors. Make it about your teachers. Make it about your colleagues. Make it about the poor, the sick and the underprivileged among us. Make about the heroes who risk their lives to save ours. Yes make it about them. During this holiday season, send your love and your hugs and your forgiveness for those you miss and wish they were near. Because it is when they are far away and gone that we remember the best moments we once had and live with the hope that we will be together again, smiling and just enjoying each other, sharing a meal and feeling good about our simple and yet extraordinary life. It is amazing when you discover that life is not about wealth and competition and getting ahead until you die. It is instead about the many spiritual gifts life offers each one of us if we only can spend a moment to think about them. How we choose and decide to live our lives is an important choice with serious everlasting consequences, good or bad. Celebrate the best within you and with your loved ones. Celebrate goodness, love, joy and peace together and forever. It is never too late to reach out to a friend, a relative, a colleague, a coach, a teacher, a neighbor and others you know or knew, and just say hey...I was thinking about you today and some of those precious moments we once shared. I wish you peace, safety and good health. God bless you. That is not hard to do if we make it about them and not about us and our selfishness and our pride. It is amazing when you discover that life is not about wealth and competition and getting ahead until you die. It is instead about the many spiritual gifts life offers each one of us if we only can spend a moment to think about them. How we choose and decide to live our lives is an important choice with serious everlasting consequences, good or bad. Life on this earth is short. It is never too late for each one of us to discover and appreciate our true meaning of life. A life that is simple yet so full of wonderful feelings, blessings and miracles.
